I don't mind watching cricket on TV - although 5 day Test Matches tend to drag on and on and on... I like the One Day International Matches because they are quite fast-paced and a lot more exciting (in my opinion).

Normally, if I'm at home and there's a cricket game on, I'll leave the TV switched on with the cricket showing and go about the house doing chores, surfing the 'net, etc...

As a young journalist I used to have to report on it. I developed a system. The scorers, being enthusiasts, were glad to phone in scores and progress reports, to my prepared optional drafts, at the times required. So I could go and play jazz with my friends until the last "copy" had to be delivered. So everyone a winner! What fun. But cricket as such, is so slow though pleasant enough as a waste of time on a pleasant day, it never interested me. Like standing up to watch grass grow. I copped detention at school for climbing up a kurrajong tree at the edge of the ground, to devour the nuts at ease and consider the meaning of life - I thought (correctly) that was the best contribution I could make to the weekly game. I think the teacher agreed because after that he just ignored me, which suited both of us well and avoided debate. Ah! Happy Days, of "bunking it" and "playing hookey", or "wagging it" (I set a record for that, too). Anyway, I never was one for team or other games unless I could see a purpose to it. Except tennis, which seemed to me such a waste of time and energy it was ridiculous enough to pursue for the fun - in singles. I do babble on, don't I!

I like watching the cricket.. especially the one day matches ..... but nothing compares to the childhood memories you just gave me ... I remember Graham Eadie and Bobby Fulton in the Manly Warringah Football Club {{{My team}}} ~ I think I still have my supporters jersy from back then .... and I supported the team right up until the Northern Eagles.. but that whoe saga just left me cold... and so to this year I understand Manly are playing well... ...yet I am not sure I can tell you one player's name :(

Especially Test cricket - it's the business. One day or 20/20 is ok if there's no _real_ cricket on.
