Generally in the past, the reply would be the Yellow or Green Anaconda but I can tell you with certainty, the world's longest snake which takes at least 4 people to safely handle, is the Reticulated Python. Believe it or not, this snake is available in pet shops. I don't sell them though.

Asiatic Reticulated Python (Python reticulatus) holds the world's record for length of a snake, measured at 33 feet (10 meters), is the longest existing snake species. It can weigh up to 350 lbs. It should be noted, however, that the reticulated python is relatively slender and long, and therefore not necessarily the largest.

The Green Anaconda (Eunectes murinus) is the largest snakes in the world, with recorded (but unverified) measurements of 8.45 m (27.7 feet) and 9.6 m (31.5 feet), though average size is closer to 18 feet.

According to petroleum geologist, Lee Krystek, in 1944 petroleum expedition in eastern Columbia, green anaconda (Eunectes murinus), of South America, claimed to have measured an 11.4m (37.5ft) specimen, before it apparently slithered off from its hunter, who thought it died.

Reticulated Python, averages between 26-32 feet long, or 7.9-9.8 metres.
An anaconda averages between 20-25 feet, or 6.1-7.6 metres. Of course there may be individual instances where either of these snakes are larger than average.
