Nothing of sorts near the airport.
Catch a cab into town, Church Street is the main drag.
Lots of nice shopping, and cafes.
Enjoy.

Blackpool airport is only 1 hour away from liverpool city centre. You could get a bus. But if your flying, ok, there is nothing around John Lennon Airport, which is in Speke, Liverpool, there is a shopping park with bbq, furniture stores, boots, currys, clothes shops ect 5 mins in taxi. But you will be best to get a cab at the airport to the City centre, its is approx 20 mins away, there is lots to see and do, mega for shopping of every decription, resteraunts, pubs, cinema, cavern walks, large museums, you can walk to the Albert Dock where the Beatles museum is, and other shops and touristy things. it is about 5 min walk form town. You can get a tour bus, or a duck truck that drives into the water and sails, loads of stuff, too much to mention, look at liverpool.com, have a nice day

As others have said, go to the Beatles Museum at the Albert Dock in the City centre. There's a frequent fast bus service number 500 (non stop) from the airport to the city centre. Get off at Lime Street Station.
In addition to the museum, if you have time there's also the Magical Mystery tour bus which is very popular. Very near the airport there's Speke Hall (Elizabethan) from where you can get a special bus to John Lennon's house.
In fact, why not forget Blackpool and spend the whole of your time in Liverpool?

Nothing interesting near airport for sure.
You can take train to Limestreet or taxi to city centre. You can walk around the city centre to Albert Dock where Beatle's story and Tate's are located.
Enjoy your time in liverpool.

Depending on how much time you have to spare, take a cab to Mathew Street, if you want to see where the Beatles started, there are also Beatles memorabilia shops there in the same street.

I have no idea about the airport, but I do remember when I took a day trip to Liverpool that it was very disappointing for any fans of the Beatles - it was almost as if they didn't want to shout about it.
I haven't been there myself, but there is The Beatles Story (a kind of museum thing) in Albert Dock - http://www.beatlesstory.com

The yellow submarine is outside the airport, if you're relatively small you can get inside and have a look around.
Very good for a photo backdrop
