Graphics Card...?

Question

Well you see, i am having trouble with my graphics card i think....

i think i have got an ok graphics card but you see my halo lags and it is prob cause of my graphics... are drivers things you download to make your graphics card better??

If so, where can i get some??

It lags a little in multiplayer

IT LAGS LIKE alot during story. some of...maybe the worst lag ive ever had!!

for a game like halo, even a cheap graphics card like FX5500 or Radeon X500 can run it. But considering that it lags, I suspect it's your ram or processor. I have a computer with an FX 5500 but some games lag because of lack of CPU Power.

Does your game lag during online play (I don't play halo so I don't even know if it has it) or all the time, if its just online then it might not be the graphics. If it is the graphics then drivers might help - but laptops are not exactly the greatest things for gaming and drivers can only help a little bit.
THen again, if you don't have the right drivers - even the best video cards will suck, I have dual X1950 cards on my gaming rig and until I got the right drivers, not much worked right. Look up what kind of card you have (if you even have one, some have 'integrated' which just plain suck... give up on gaming if you have integrated, or at least give up on good games, graphically speaking) and then try to find drivers off their website.

Oh, and it may also be your RAM, which is completely different than your "graphics memmory"... both are important but they are physically different things- you probably want at least a gig of RAM and 256mb of graphics memmory (that depends on your card)

Oh, I just thought of something... how do you have the graphics set, I mean, you sould try and see if you can turn them down to a lower quality. For shooters, frames per second is much more important than quality of the graphics.

listen dude halo is known to lag especially in multi.more memorie and a gc can help but somtimes a map can just lag bad.i have playd halo on like,3 graphics cards and they all lag. o yea,u probly will get use to the lag thou i know i do. ps sry bad spelling pss great game im commando on multi.

okay if you are playing online it may be yours or another players internet connection (i have that same problem and i use 2wire) but as for graphics card if you have alot of games already on your pc you may need more RAM memory but usually new graphics cards and most SLI/Crossfire graphics cards have there own memory

when i first got halo i didnt even have a graphics card

Depend on your graphic card chipset vendor:

-for nVidia cards, download driver here:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

-for ATI cards, download driver here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

You can check what is your graphic card chipset vendor in Display Properties in Control Panel or right click on desktop and select Properties , after that pick up last tab in opened window

Its not your driver, drivers are little programs that talk with windows and tell it how to run the hardware. It could be that your processor isnt that good or your ram is really old and slow.
You could also have a virus slowing your computer down.

Integrated graphics is SLOW. More so if there is limited RAM on board because system RAM is shared with integrated graphics.
No cost solution= reduce display resolution, game quality settings and color quality from 32bit to 16bit.
Better solution= increase your RAM.

need to know your exact vid card brand, ati , geforce , etc. go to start , run , type dxdiag.exe, look in the tabs and it should say your card name, search for the brand name and find the drivers.
