After WW2 and a damn near WW3 the world has got the idea that death no matter how noble is always tragic. That the world is now really tired of wars and interfering with others and now its time to focus on our own agendas and build our own nations. For does not every nation have enough of its own problems with crime, disease, disasters etc...? Shouldnt the US military secure its southern border and spend time crushing drug barrons (who kill way more than a few terrorist bombs on US soil every week than the Taliban have ever done)? Dont you agree the world has gone past the stage of chasing dominion and interfering. The world now wants to secure its own prosperity and grace by looking in the mirror and facing the facts, "we have to agree to disagree", and while your side is far from perfect mine is not perfect either (try to hear an American say that about the US!). Dont you think so? Technologically and economically way ahead but socially and philosophically way behind!

I'm waiting for the day China and India crush an over-confident, cocky and arrogant US

Maybe, just maybe, if the US could really demonstrate some sort of leadership skills in removing social problems and poverty in its own country, rather than exploiting the poor and weak, you might actually see people respecting the USA again.

Maybe just maybe, if the USA was the utopia it wants us to believe, more countries would want the US around as PARTNERS not MASTERS.

But, sadly the USA can't clean up its own backyard and is in absolutely no position to dictate world policy.

If a bunch of 3rd world cops in Indonesia can catch key leaders and members of a terrorist group (OK there's no guarantee of them being prosecuted), why can't the so-called "Greatest Country in the whole Goddamned World" catch Al quaida(?) and Osama?

USA allies weren't given a choice to deal with this terrorist problem, Bush said most distinctly, 'You are either with us, or you are against us'. A lot of the US allies have been extremely honourable with their obligations to the USA as an Ally. Unfortunately history shows that the USA has turned its back against its Allies many times.

The English, Aussies, Canadians (& many others) have never walked away from a just fight that threatened their people, but as in WW2, it can take the USA a long long time to come to their allies aid.

I am a great admirer of the English character, just remember that when the Americans were all buddy buddy with the Nazi's while they bombed the hell out of England, other nations and members of the commonwealth dropped everything and stood with them. If it wasn't for Japan bombing pearl harbour, the USA probably wouldve made a deal to carve up Europe with the Nazi's.

The USA is acting like hoodlums or standover men and making the rest of the world guilty by association.

I rather think that the notion that we exist to build only within our own borders is a bit passe. Amid threats from the ME and the growing availability of nuclear weaponry, we cannot afford to turn our attentions fully inward.

We need to continue vigilantly building upon our global community. If the Saudis want us there, that is where we should be. Same with the Iraqis and Israelis.

Our country is and has always been best strengthened by the unified forces of our allies abroad and this fact will never change, nor should it.

We are all human beings regardless of outward differences and as such, entitlements should in no way be allocated according to nationality, race or, borders but instead, according to the strength of the relationships we share with other countries. Certainly, the children of our 'good neighbors' down the street are no more important than the children of our good neighbors in the ME, Europe and around the globe.

We must bear the need to help our allies in mind at all times if we are to survival in this increasingly hostile world.

It is and has always been noble to lose one's life so that others may live in freedom and nothing can change that fact - not even (un)popular sentiment regarding the cause.

This must be one of the best summaries of the international situation ever posted on here.
I believe that the West intentionally fails to act against organised crime as the continued presence of drug barons etc. provide a convenient excuse for introducing oppressive legislation that would otherwise be unacceptable. Drugs, Terrorism and Paedophilia provide the excuses for intrusive action by the security services and suspension of basic civil rights.
Internationally, for about 500 years Europe has used religion as an excuse for plundering the rest of the world - ostensibly to bring Christianity to the savage. Outside of the Islamic world, religious oppression is no longer acceptable so the US now use democracy as the excuse to change governments, destroy countries and plunder their resources in a manner not dissimilar to the sacking of cities in ancient times.
Many civilisations survived quite well without democracy which often ensures the triumph of the corrupt and the mediocre over the able and meritous.

The fact of the matter is that America is in a power struggle, it wants to claim the number 1 superpower by invading countries with little or no opposition from friends and foes.

Countries have enough problems of their own; they want the chance to develop, the same opportunities the west has had in order to grow and develop.

America will meet its match if it does ever invade Pakistan. Pakistan is bound to invade America in this case.

Well, I just hope that all these wars stop, and people are allowed to live peacefully.

The first problem is that in order for any government to be successful it must have the backing of its military and a military exists to prepare for and execute war.

The second problem is crystalised in a quote by Stalin,

"A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic"

The threats (or perceived threats) to US national security will ensure their global military action for decades to come and lets be fair, Mr Putin isn't exactly a peace monger is he?

It would be much better if we could all concentrate on getting our own houses in order, but sadly the organising principle for any society is for war. The authority of a state over its people resides in its war policy and that is one of the reasons why the USA is so much of a world power today.

Your sentiments are mostly sound and admirable. The yankees are victims of their own myths and ignorance when it comes to who has the guts for action. They don't know very much about the bravery of other peoples and they think they are the world's heroes. Take the Russians in the Battle of Stalingrad. Few US soldiers ever endured the kind of horror of warfare and came through in the way the Russian soldiers did. The Japanese, for all their evil ways, frightened the yankees when it came to raw courage and tenacity. Then there were the Vietcongs who whipped them good. Only when they have the safety of their advanced weaponry and armoured vehicles did the yankees showed any relish to venture and engage the enemy. They rather fight them from darkened bunkers and press a few buttons.
The yankees only interfere in their national interests. They came into the WW2(E) only when the Japanese bombed them, and they entered the European arena when they saw that the Nazis were almost a spent force, and to protect their own national interests. They are not into anything for altruistic motives. Even their 'aid' is so that the farmers in Kansas and others can dump their grain.
Yes, we should intervene for selfless motives - to truly help others.

Why do you make such general statements about this country? When you say the "US" who are you referring to?
The Executive office, the citizens? There is a long list of problems affecting this country as others, but should we simply focus on one problem at a time? Wouldn't that make us more vulnerable? This is not paradise, and some conflicts can only be resolved by kicking @%&, that is the world we live in, so get used to it.

using fact it extremely is the only style of political participation that they are able to do. There are not the different styles of channels which they think of is efficient. some are only no longer bothered in any respect. vote casting would not mirror the intensity of a individual's political view, the two. And with our electoral device, maximum persons could think of that their votes would be wasted. Whining must be the wonderful and easily style of examine and stability the Brits have have been given left by contrast ever growing to be government. do no longer underestimate it.

Because the Muslim terrorist we face are smart unlike us, and learn from past mistakes..ex;

they had a plan originally, they tried to bring the WTC towers down, AND hurt our economy with a car bomb in 93 and did not work....

..so they re-planned and waited until years later, then 9/11, were they succeeded in bringing the WTC towers down but not much in hurting us economically....

...so now they plan for the next attack....the one that will accomplish the last part of the original plan...to hurt us economically bad, .....THIS time the attack has to be horrendous....so I am thinking a nuke suitcase bomb in a container ship off Newark seaport, blasting NY city and a lot of the eastern seaboard bad, collapsing our economy for sure..!

...and that is why we MUST stay on them...because they will NOT stop until their plans are accomplished.....to hurt us!

As for the rest of the world...? it is the same world that sent a guy name Chamberlain to talk to a genocidal maniac some decades ago named..Hitler and they said.."he is ok, we can negotiate with Hitler, he is ok....." that was 1939....!..the morons!

so I do not care about the rest of the world, because unfortunately they have screwed up again and again and again....!
