Why does it house the highest prison population in the world? Given India has 900 mil people and China has 1.6 BILLION shouldn't one of these house the biggest inmate population not the US? Does this not show you that America's portrayal of a perfect, silver spooned lifestyle better than everywhere else is simply not true? I mean after all, most crimes are money orientated and therefore where money is aplenty crime should be low correct? Obviously other nations have something more than just currency to satisfy its citizens and people are not just piggy banks that need filling with as much coinage as possible. Dont you think?

I live in a city with over 20,000 expat americans, so it can't be that good. More arrive each year! I don't mind if they just shut up complaining about the differences, we don't care!

America still thinks that its the land of milk and honey.

Lets just not highlight their health care system, justice (lol) system, facist tendencies, social unrest, education system, warped world view, gun laws, fanatical christian sects (oh so scarey), willingness to maim and kill not only their own but others, their inate ability to offend or insult every major religion or philosophy or country.

USA be warned, you are burning all your bridges, if everyone who invested a penny in your stinking country withdrew, you'd be bankrupt. I look forward to the demise of the USA, its had its day and blew it! The only contribution to the world in the last few decades is war, war and war....and of course religious bigotry, paranoia and intimidation.

I don't think all Americans portray the US as such a perfect place. I would however, have to say that most of the time when an American expresses any type of national pride they are way more likely than anyone else to have someone jump down their throat for it.

Your argument rests on the assumption that most crimes are money orientated. There are probably less "money orientated" crimes in the countries you refrenced, because there is consierably less to covet, and in turn steal.

Also, I'm fairly sure that you will find that in the United States, the majority of crimes commited are NOT money related, but rather DRUG related. This is unfortunate, and embarassing.

As an American, I am fully aware of the fact that my country is NOT the "silver lined paradise" that you spoke of.

Perhaps the real problem is that YOU, and other "haters" like yourself who often hide under the guise of being down trodden, and oppressed are in truth jealous, and troubled by the fact that maybe you DON'T enjoy the same freedom that we do? Maybe our government, (as screwed up as it is) still provides more for us than your government does for you? Not only is that NOT the fault of the American government and it's people, but we have a solution for you as well:

Come on over, like thousands of other foreigners have. Recieve the same government assistance which has been provided to them (food stamps, free health care, welfare, etc.) and then you can at least be comfortable and well fed, and able to follow any religion you choose, while you continue to insult a country that you obviously know little about.

I love living in the US, but neither I nor most people I know think of it as a silver-lined paradise. You've hit on a couple of our major flaws. The high prison population is a MAJOR problem, partly because of our puritan way of handling "drug crimes" (more people are in jail for drug crimes than anything else) and partly because a lot of our society wants to see prison as punative, instead of using it as rehabilitation. Our emphasis on money is also unfortunate, as most people who are unhappy when they're lower-middle class will still be unhappy when they're rich, and just don't belief it. (I'll admit that money can buy happiness in the form of basics--food, shelter, etc.--which is why I didn't use "poor" in this example). Then again, our money gives us the ability to do really interesting things with the entertainment and technology industries!

It's a mixed bag.

You should go to the USA - away from the shopping malls and other posh parts of the big cities there is a lot of poverty and unrest - Afro-Caribbean and Hispanic Americans still have huge issues of equality of opportunity even for education and health - the American Dream is a good one - but rather like Christianity as described by Gandhi - no-one seems to be trying it yet!

China just kills them. India is pretty homogeneous ethnically speaking and has very few illegal aliens, which comprise a large percentage of the residents of our prison system. Your whole class warfare argument proves that the public school system is a miserable failure. State your "money" and "silver spoon" argument in a coherent manner and I'll try and respond.

What's your point? People from other countries are willing to cross deserts, cross the seas to come here.........
So its America's fault that we have what you think is the highest inmate population? Could it be b/c our law enforcement agencies cannot be bribed like their counterparts in other countries?

They have a lack of morals!

Their politicians will spoon feed them lies, and the countrymen will believe the lies and carry on skipping along to the park for morning yoga, I mean a Burger!

Are you trying to say we shouldn't love living in the USA?
Sorry, it beats the pants off any other nation in the world -hands down!

I'll stay here, thanks. You are free to go where you please.

BTW, your analysis is flawed beyond belief in addition to tracking off course on several tangents. Try to focus next time and think about what it is that you really want to ask.
