I kind of miss being a cop in some ways. On a perfect day I miss that Harley Davidson I got paid to ride, I miss being able to help people without them worrying about what my motive was.
Sad as it is to say, I miss being a cop, how about you?

I miss working in a doctor's office & helping people. It gave me great satisfaction knowing I could make them smile & help them feel better.
Edit: I, like BABYFACE, had to retire due to health reasons, a well. I won't go into but let's just say I probably won't be able to work this computer in a couple more years & we will leave it at that :-)

I was a mail carrier for almost 20 years, until my broken ankle became osteoarthritis. If you can't walk, you can't carry mail. I miss the people on my route, although I still live in the same neighborhood, so I run into them sometimes. I miss the dogs. I was a dog-lover before I was a mail carrier & feel that it should be a requirement. I carried biscuits on my route even though it was against the rules. A dog will remember you in a good way if they can expect a treat & in a bad way if they get maced. That's common sense. The people in the post office who make the rules don't know anything about dogs (Did you notice they changed the Pet Meds commercial where the mailman used to get down & pet the golden retriever?) Speaking of people who make the rules, I don't miss management, or as we called them, mismanagement. These are people who have never carried mail, know nothing of customer service & are only concerned with the bottom line. I also don't miss some of my co-workers who would kiss up to management & stab their co-workers in the back. When I started out, there was a sense of comraderie. We would help each other if we finished early. Those days are gone. Management wants to know where you are every moment. There are scanners to mark your position at a certain time & if you weren't there at the expected time, they want to know why. I think by now they're trying to find a way to implant a chip in their heads. I do miss some of my co-workers & some of us keep in touch on a regular basis. One of them called me just last night. Overall, I'm glad I'm out of there.

Does being an ex mean and lean highly trained mall security guard count? I applied for the position once, but the training program was too rigorous and I washed out. I was hoping to get a chance to ride a motorized shopping cart. That is kind of like driving a Harley on duty isn't it?

My last job was eliminated so my retirement was not by choice but I really do miss it and have not found a job to replace it. It was a great job and I worked with wonderful people.

that is normal to miss that sort of thing. It was a job that you did well that you got paid to help people. yes there were crummy days here and there but overall you helped MANY people and positively influenced their lives.

I am not retired myself but some jobs I did do in the past, I do miss parts of it (other than the steady income. haha)

I know this may sound strange, but you could still wear the uniform and put on a harsh manner. Just keep it in the confines of the house and no-one will ever know. Write out tickets and dish out punishment.

I do.

Yes, I miss my job.
My Dr told me I needed to retire due to health problems, so I did, that was several months ago.
I also worked in law enforcement. It get's in your blood.
I loved helping people and it was an exciting and rewarding field.
