What is this fruit called in English?

Can anyone tell me what is it called. I cannot find the right name through dictionary.

The fruit is an apple. And this one is a green apple.

They are very common in Australia and are eaten regularly

It is not an apple -- the shape is wrong for an apple, and if you look at the water pooling on it, the scale is wrong. This fruit looks quite small, maybe only a couple inches high or smaller.

It is not a plum, the texture is wrong -- not smooth skinned enough.

I thought walnut an excellent guess but the texture is also wrong for walnut. (Fresh walnut is more speckled). Also, too small for walnut...

Look at the stem, it looks small and thin like that of a cherry. But it's clearly not a cherry.

My first guess is that it is a kind of date from Xinjiang province -- they have dates that are round and are green and red -- but these don't quite look red enough. The texture, size and shape look right to me though... Taste would be deliciously sweet, with a firm crisp texture, and a single stone inside...

The fruit could be almost any of the answers given above.
It is not a carrot.

How big is it? Do you know whether this one is fully ripe? Is it sweet? Do you eat it raw or cook with it or both?
