If I were you if you want to work dealing with the public, I would go work for Wal-Mart rather than McDonalds. I have worked for both and depending on where or who you work for will make a difference. I have worked for two McDonalds restaurants and Wal-mart at different locations and I would say that WalMart is the lesser of the two evils, because you will probably get more hours and better benefits. You could be sixteen with a work permit. I live in Georgia , but work in Hilton Head, Sc, the McDonalds here in SC pays 8.00 an hour and up, but in Savannah, Ga most only make a little bit more than minimum wage 5.15 or more.

I worked at McDonalds for 4 years and started when I was 15. I think now you have to be 16 if working for a corporate store.
I live in Illinois.
One plus about working at McDonalds is you get great training (i'm not talking about how to flip a burger) on things like management, friendliness, dos and don'ts at a work place, responsiblity etc.
I started out as a cashier then moved up to manager by the time I was 18. For me it was fun. If considering good luck!

I used to work at a McDonald's in Indiana. I started when I was 17, but I know they hired 16-year-olds. I earned the minimum wage at the time ($5.15/hr).

I work at a Mc Donald's in Washington state and our's is open 24 hours. I work the graveyard shift and they pay $9 an hour for that shift because it is so hard to keep people, but I work for an independently owned store.
