Every once in awhile I hear a popping / bubbling sound when im falling a sleep. Last night I heard it again. Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

It's weird. Last night it sounded like someone was ringing a gong.

Yes, they are called Hypnagogic sounds and could be a precursor to an out of body experience.

It is a something that can occur when you are going into a hypnogogic dream state--that is, when you are going into a dream state upon falling asleep. I've experienced it often. People tend to think a supernatural thing is happening, but something is just happening in your consciousness while you body and mind is falling into a dream state from a waking state. Sometimes this is related to sleep paralysis or lucid dreaming. Although it feels alarming and strange when it happens, be assured that you probably don't have a health problem and nothing supernaturally bad is happening.

My one suggestion is to go to your doctor. There was a boy a while back who had a tiny spider in his ear and complained about something similar.

Pretty harmless, and I hope it's not that, but worth checking out.

i hear the same things...bangs, ringing -- then i have to listen to see if the phone's ringing or someone's knocking on the door.

not sure what it is, but must have something to do with the body's settling down process

No....is it in your head or actually in your room? Cuz if it's in your head could be that your spirit is leaving you when you go to sleep. There's ACTUAL PROOF that it DOES sometimes leave you when you fall asleep:

astral travel or astral projection, whatever it's called. Or could it possibly be that there are ghosts in your room...hmmm
