Everything will be going great and just all of the sudden I will think negative thoughts and make myself feel bad. It's like I can't let myself be happy. Then I notice that I dwell on the negativity for a long time afterwards. I'm not a mean or bad or immoral person. I don't know why I'm like this. Do I have a mental problem?? How do I make myself feel/think more positively?

Stress can make one do lots of things, so you're probably not mental.

You've got to 'spot' these events before they turn into a negative spiral and send you into free-fall. As soon you do spot one, give yourself a pep talk, go and do something fun, or both.

No, I don't believe you have a mental problem at all. Sounds to me like you are just being introspective, as opposed to pessimistic. You might try doing more things you have never done that you think you'll do okay at. The more things you try and suceed at, the more confident you'll be by nature and you will spend little time doubting yourself. You'll look and feel self -assured. Good luck to you!

You have to make yourself better and think more positive.
Don't dwell on negative thoughts and make yourself busy on things you wanted to do. Have company and enjoy talking, laughing and singing if you are fond of singing. I don't think you have a mental problem.

It mainly depends on how long this has been going on. You might have depression. If you feel like this consistently and it has been going on for quite awhile, I'd recommend getting examined by a physician to see if you need medication.

It could be you don't believe you deserve to be happy so you bring yourself down. There are a couple different ways to deal with that, self esteem work etc. depends on your history and such, see what a therapist says.

Well that has surely something to do with your way of thinking. Maybe you worry too much. Maybe ...
Either way,
Unless you can be more specific with the case, no one can help you. If you go to a physcian, for example, you'll be asked to detail you problem.
So please add more detail like when it happens, on what circumstances, etc.
