What took my cinch trap?

I put a cinch trap in my gopher hole and didn't cover it. The next morning the hole was filled in with dirt and the trap was gone.

You need to hone your hunting and trapping skills Nimrod. Watch some Bugs and Elmer or Roadrunner cartoons. RScott

Could be the gopher is wearing it. Or some creature may have taken them both.

Gophers will fill holes like that if you leave them open.
Did you stake the trap in place?
