I used to have to 'bite my tongue' when I got clients like that ... their basic 'problem' was they were JERKS, and needed to learn to be 'nicer' so people would be nicer to them, but as a 'psychologist' I was supposed to just 'listen and offer advice' and I really wanted to just say 'YOU ARE A JERK.' I retired shortly after that, and now if I'm answering a 'jerk' question in Y!A I tell the person that they're a jerk. What surprises me is how OFTEN I do that but I've gotten only ONE 'violation' ... and then I told the person he was being 'too nice.' Go figure that out.
