Hillary is still my choice, but I'm liking Kucinich more & more. I was totally turned off by the way Biden blew off the lady who's husband died in the coal mine accident. He only wanted to talk about what he rehearsed. Sad!
By the way, for those who missed it, do a search in U-Tube:
AFL-CIO DEMOCRATIC DEBATE AUG.07, 2007
PS: I'd like to add a note about Obama, I do like him, but he seems child-like next to Hillary. I think he would make a great VP. He could learn alot from her.

Obama stood toe-to-toe with Hillary on foreign policy, and didn't blink. He elaborated on his position regarding Pakistan, even making Hillary look like a Washington insider. Hillary stated that engaging in hypotheticals is foolish, Obama countered saying that our foreign policy decisions should be part of the greater American discourse... that is the true genius of Obama.
I went into the AFL-CIO debate a little on the fence between Obama and Richardson, and I was greatly disappointed by Richardson. I've really wanted to support him too! His website is all about alternative energy, and his foreign policy experience, but he's just not cutting it for me. He's not gaining the polls by significant margins, he's not raising the political capital and he's just not elaborating his positions well in these debates. I think he'd be a fantastic VP.
But Obama impressed me tonight, and definitely showed some cojones.

Tonight's debate settled something for me. I was supporting Joe Biden, but now I want to seek another candidate.
Biden was loudly booed in front of the AFL-CIO. That means his candidacy is dead in the water. Without labor on his side, Biden won't last for very long.
It was clear as to what happened to Biden tonight. Due the manner in which the debate was structured, Biden was shut out of the interplay regarding Obama's statement that he would invade Pakistan. Biden was chomping at the bit for a chance to give his opinion. Then, a woman came forward whose husband was killed in the mine disaster in Pennsylvania. She showed real courage in coming forward to ask what would be done to ensure workers were protected from hazards. The question went to Biden.
What did he do?
Biden was so frustrasted and angry at not being able to offer his opinion on the Pakistan question, he basically blew the woman off and gave his opinion on Pakistan anyway, totally ignoring this poor widow. That's when the crowd jeered Biden with such obvious disapproval that even he looked stunned by their reaction.
Tonight, Joe Biden showed himself to be a self-centered, piece of garbage. He self-destructed. There is now no way this man can salvage his chance to be President.
You DO NOT give short shrift to the question of a grieving widow and survive in American politics.
Biden blew it. He's done.

I was pretty impressed with all of them tonight. They were fired up and on game. But Hillary stands out to me. Even when she isn't speaking she commands the stage.. I love how when she agrees with her opponent she nods her head. I've watched how she does that in several debates and I believe her when she says even if she isn't the candidate she wants the dems to win. She's on message and she's keeping negativity relatively low and that makes her seem Presidential.

Hillary still comes out ahead, I watched it last night on MSNBC. I am sure you can watch all of the recap on their page right now if you want too. Keith Olberman did a great job as usual.

They sounded more irrational than usual -- but they were plugging for a specific demographic and a specific target group, and so everything got rephrased to make it primarily relevant to that group.
I wish politicians didn't do that, but it's a political reality.

I didnt watch it. For several reasons.
For one, Keith Olbermann was hosting, and I find it difficult to watch him.
For another, they didnt invite my candidate, Mike Gravel, despite his outstanding voting record and history with regards to labor. All over some petty bureaucratic nonsense about forms.
And third, I find Clinton, Obama and Edwards exceptionally painful to watch and listen to.
