Okay I have the same problem with my fiance! We've tryed everything! Breath right strips never worked for us! I mean its worth a try but if they dont work this is what I know. Its not a fix-all but it helps a bunch.
I know how you feel when he snores...you're so worried about him snoring before you fall asleep that you cant sleep anyways...you actually get stressed about it. My fiances doctor told him he has something in his throat that made it so that he would snore if he gained even a pound of weight and my fiance is cut, not fat. But I noticed just like the doctor said he gains even a pound and it gets so much worse! Or drinking! Any beer and its ten times worse! Does this ring a bell at all?
What worked for us was we went out and bought a firm pillow and when I hear him start to snore I make him turn over on his side. When they sleep on their backs their necks are propped up and the air ways are blocked making it easier to snore so by making him roll over on his side it opens the air ways and he stops. I have it to the point that all I have to say is "turn over" and in his sleep he knows to turn on his side lol. It took work but its effective!
If all else fails my happy fix are the foam earplugs!!! No joke they are heaven!!! If you have a big day and you know you need rest that night and just dont feel like dealing with the snoring buy some foam earplugs! You roll them into a thin strip stick them in and they puff out and fill your ear so you cant hear anything and you cant even feel them! They are lovely. So thats the fail safe :) Tell your hubby to make sure to shake you awake at the right time the next morning though because you will not hear the alarm!!! lol I agree snoring sucks but your right its not bad enough to want a great guy gone! Seeing a doc cant help but earplugs are always a friend :) Good luck!!!

There are quite a few causes of snoring.
Is your husband overweight? Big guys have excess weight pushing up on their diaphrams as they sleep and pushing down on their throats when they're lying down. Sometimes, something as simple as losing 20 pounds can reduce or eliminate snoring.
Also, the bigger the guy, the easier it is for his tongue to create an airway obstruction while sleeping. When he relaxes his muscles in sleeping, he loses his ability to protect his airway and the snoring sound comes from air trying to get past his tongue which is sitting on the back of his throat. There are various pillows on the market that help position the head and neck the right way during sleep that open the airway.
Sleep apnea also causes snoring. Sleep apnea is when your body "forgets" to breathe during sleep and your man only takes a breath when the carbon dioxide levels rise inside his body to a dangerous level. Then, they take a deep breath or several small ones, breathe for a while, then stop again. These periods of apnea (breathing cessation), can last from 15 seconds to several minutes.
I would take him to the doctor if I were you to make sure that he doesn't have any anatomical anomalies that would require surgery, such as oversized tonsils, but really, I'd be more concerned about things like obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, or sleep apnea because those are the things that are REALLY costly in the long run, not to mention potential killers, especially in combination with one another.
But all of those causes of snoring can be controlled or fixed and when you fix the cause, you can fix the snoring. Your doctor may prescribe a breathing machine for him to wear at night (CPAP or BiPAP) which provides positive pressure air that keeps his airways open, making it easier for him to breathe and keeping him oxygenated when he's sleeping. The machine itself is pretty quiet and, after a while, becomes white noise in the background that's much less unsettling than the sporadic choking sounds you hear from the other side of the bed!
Good luck! I hope this helped! I don't want to find out that you had to get separate rooms or something!

there is a spray that helps decrease the snoring...SilentSnore Spray or Snorenz. I have never used them.
I have noticed that my man snores more when he is exhausted or sick. So by decreasing that, the snoring does also. Some men use the breath right strips. Some women use ear plugs...
However, if he snores and stops breathing and then starts up again then he does need to go to the Dr. He could have sleep apnea. I'm not telling you to make you panic when you go to bed, but alot of people have that condition.
Hope it helps!

I have the same problem for the last 20 years. He's worse after he's been drinking, or if he's put on a bit of weight. He's much worse on his back so I usually just say 'rollover' and he automatically goes 'oh, sorry, was I snoring' and then rolls over, but swears blind the next day that he wasn't. I'm also going to film it or tape it one day so he knows how loud it really is. If he's got a cold, I sleep in the guest room - nothing stops him snoring then!
A friend told me to stitch a tennis ball into the back of his PJ shirt, that way he'll always sleep on his side.
Another friend said surgery is the only option - a 'soft palate' problem and a bit of lasering.
I just live with it. For now.

Yes, he should definitely go to the doctor--he could have sleep apnea--which can be very serious. It's where he literally stops breathing in his sleep, and can lead to heart attacks.
If it's not apnea, then losing a few pounds could help as well. There are also those breathe right strips that you stick on your nose that really help me. I saw a pillow at Brookstone tonight that says it helps stop snoring.
You can also move to another room--sometimes I wind up doing that just so I can get some sleep!

He may have sleep apnia, where one even stops breathing for a few seconds. A deviated septum, could also be the cause of this snoring, Seeking out some medical help will not hurt at all. I hope this helps, and pray for some sleepful nights soon, lol. Take care and good luck.

I've been told to try breathe right strips or a nose spray. I snore really loud too! Otherwise tell him to lay on his side, although that doesn't help me much! Otherwise, surgery is probably the only other answer! I'm not having it though because luckily, my husband is a heavy sleeper & is always asleep before I am! he he

I have heard that these Breath Right strips work well for most snoring. My ex used to roll me on my side or stomach and she said that helped. Try a Google search too.
Good Luck!

If he snores very loudly he could very likely have sleep apnea which can be deadly. He should get checked out at the Dr. There are treatments. If he won't go, I suggest you buy some ear plugs and take sleeping pills. Otherwise you'll never sleep soundly.
