you might try Dennis Mckiernan, his stories are similar to Lord of the rings, but an easier read ( i had difficulties reading tolkien, loved his stories but hated his writ ting style)
My FAVORITE author is Mercedes Lackey she has several different types of books, there are the Valdemer Series, the Diana Tregard books, the Bardic Voices series. ( just to start)
Anne Mccafferty and now her son Todd Mccafferty, Anne Bishop, Piers Anthony.
for Mysteries here are a few suggestions. Rita Mae Brown With Sneaky Pie Brown, they do the Mrs Murphy Mysteries. ( odd Disney movie Murder she Purred with Ricki Lake was based of these books) they start with Wish you were Here and i believe there are 15 books of those out now.
and Kay Hooper's Bishop/special crimes unit novels she is a romance writer so there is romance in with these books but they center around a special unit of the FBI that all have Gifts (i.e Mediumism, Telepathy, Clairvoyance, and so on) they go in threes. starting with Stealing Shadows, Hiding in Shadows, and Out of the Shadows, then the Evil ones, touching, Whisper of, and Sensing Evil, then the Fear ones. Hunting, Chill of, and Sleeping with Fear they are all really good.
and as i tell everyone, i could just go on and on, i have Five bookcases i have added extra shelves to all of them my books are stacked two deep per shelf, and they are starting to pile on the floor again, this is just the tip of my mountain of books. i love reading
i hope you fine more books to enjoy.
i have read the ones you have listed as well and loved all of them

The General series by David Drake and S. M. Stirling. The Hitchhikers guide to the Universes. Some of Spider Robinson's books are mystery/comedies.

An author I always enjoyed is Anne McCaffrey. She wrote the Dragonriders of Pern series (her son is writing some of them now with her as well.) It's pretty extensive. A group crashlands on a planet they name Pern. They have to start over, as most of their things were destroyed. They discover a deadly enemy that rains from the sky (Thread) and find a way to combat, flying dragons. I think she started writing this is the 80s. I also liked her Crystal Singer trilogy, which might be more science fiction.
Another author is Piers Anthony. He wrote the Xanth series - books full of crazy characters and painful puns. His Incarnations of Immortality series also gets good reviews, starting with Death and includes Gaia, Time and Mars. Another of his works I really enjoyed (again, science fiction realm) was his Adept trilogy.
Katherine Kurtz wrote a series about the Deryni, a magical race almost eradicated. This is about them coming back to save their land. Enjoy!

This year I'm into dragons. Right now I'm reading Throne of Jade (Temeraire series by Naomi Novik) & Song in the Silence by Elizabeth Kerner. Before that I read the Age of Fire books by E E Knight & DragonKin(first book) by Robin Wayne Bailey(need to still read the 2nd and 3rd).
For fantasy overall, I enjoyed Terry Brooks' "Kingdom of Landover" series, it's 5 books about a rich businessman who purchases a magical realm from a magazine. They're enjoyable.

Let me suggest the Dragonlance series by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. The first three books are Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning. If you like these, there are several more Dragonlance stories just waiting for you.
Another series you might want to check out is Forgotten Realms, especially the stuff from R.A. Salvatore.

I second the Lord of the Rings, and add the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe (The first of seven Chronicles of Narnia books - all recommended). I tried reading the Wheel of Time series but didn't like it way back at age 12. The Princess Bride and Neverending Story books and movies were great. Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King is still one of my favorites.

If you're looking for a really awesome mystery that's sophisticated go with Agatha Christie. She'll have you guessing every time. Hang in there art first, the beginnings can be boring but they are worth it. I loved "And Then There Were None"
