Can someone give me an example opening paragraph (or a sentence or two), for an epilogue to Of Mice and Men?

My first assignment in English this year is to write an epilogue for Of Mice and Men. I really want to start the year off well and be prepared, so can some people give me an idea of how to start it? Just so I have an example.

It also needs to be in John Steinbeck's style of writing.

As this book is about dreams that are unfulfilled, your epilogue could be about the same. However, for Lenny to have his dream to be unfilled doesn't mean that all dreams are that way.

The epilogue could be how George and the other 'barley buckers' with the dream get a new drive and inspiration to work toward having their dreams fulfilled. So, although the "Best laid plans of mice and men gang oft a gley" this is only 'oft' and not always.

"After laying Lenny to rest, George returned to work with a vigor. His efforts were redoubled to get his farm and he was reluctant to waste all his money in the cat houses"

Sorry if the names are incorrect, it is about 40 years since I read Of M & M.

I think you would have to talk about an eventual trial for George. Did he do the right thing? Do people perceive that he did the right thing. Was he arrested or did he move on? From Shmoop
