after i used internet explorer 5, my computer started acting stupiod, and my explorer disappeared, and when i go to the task manager and run the explorer again, it disappears again, it doesn;t stay, just keeps disappearing. ive tried restore point, but no luck. what do i do?

response to the answer. the problem is that my explorer doesnt show up at all anymore. its just the wallpaper thats there. heres a screenshot

If you mean Explorer and not Internet Explorer, you likely have virus(es), spyware, adware.

A virus can cause this to hapen, but some spyware and adware can also cause this.

The adware/spyware are not viruses if they do not replicate (make copies of) themselves.

You may have to remove the hard drive and have it scanned for viruses, spyware, adware.

The hard drive has to be installed into another computer

This scan has to be done with a good all around software designed for purpose.

Windows has a built in tool called System file checker, which can check and restore all windows system files, if they are found out to be corrupt. This can be handy in repairing the kind of problems you are facing.

You really need upgrade to IE6 or IE7.
