I will be going to Vegas for three days in November for a convention (business). My husband will be going along for the ride. We have never been and need to plan for air fare, room and for something to entertain him during the day while I am in meetings. Any tips on how to plan this without breaking the bank? I have already spend a lot of money paying for admission to the convention.

Don't worry too much about it. Here's are some simple suggestions:
Weather will be in the 70s and 80s during the day and 50s and 60s at night, maybe cooler. Jacket for nights and lighter spring/fall clothes for the day. Shorts optional and bring bathing suits in case you want to enjoy a pool or two. There are many great hotels to choose from. As it is a business trip for you, your company may have chosen your hotel. If you're self-employed, check www.lasvegas.com for hotel deals and www.destinations360.com for things to do and details. Sometimes it helps to check the hotel's website and book direct. For flights, my choice is US Airways, comfort, class and never had a problem. Walking around will be easy, trust me, you'll know what to do the moment you step outside. You really can't get lost on the strip. If you're off strip, rent a car or take a bus, monorail or cab. Sight see the strip and enjoy the free outdoor shows, example: Dancing water fountains at Bellagio, Volcano at Mirage, Pirate Show at TI and so on. Take a look at Freemont St. Experience downtown too; it's within distance as long as you have transportation. And lastly, have a gambling budget and stick to it! Don't try to get even or play more. There are good casinos to play and not-so-good casinos too. It's all up to you and your tastes. Good luck.

Much of the answer depends on your tastes and budget. If you are into car collections, you can get free admission to the Imperial Palace collection by printing a coupon in advance (just google it to find them online). If you want to see a Vegas show, but aren't too fussy and want to save, go to the half-price tix outlets (there are three of them; I usually go to the one at the Fashion Show Mall on the strip). See what is available, and enjoy. If you like wildlife, go see the White Tigers at the Mirage, but for a real treat get there when they go on display at 10:00 a.m. or so. The tigers are most active then, and often bathe and tromp around the habitat, instead of laying around like they do most of the day.

For rooms, downtown or off-strip is cheaper than strip, but you can eat up the savings in taxi fare if your husband has to commute to the convention. In general, closer is better, but you should check the hotels around it to find the best rates.

go to http://www.kayak.com and put in your information and it'll bring up a bunch of different sites with different estimates and choices. i booked with expedia and found that deal to be the best after comparing prices on about every different site there is. although at different times there are different deals with every site. good luck.
