"The pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I've got news for them too. We worship an awesome God in the Blue States, and we don't like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. We coach Little League in the Blue States and yes, we got some gay friends in the Red States. There are patriots who opposed the war in Iraq and patriots who supported the war in Iraq. We are one people, all of us pledging allegiance to the stars and stripes, all of us defending the United States of America." -Barack Obama

This is why a conservative can support Barack Obama.
I don't even care if this is just empty rhetoric, it is rhetoric than needs to be said, no, shouted from the rooftops. Nothing would be more healing to this divided nation than an end to partisan hacks, many of whom post on this forum with all the eloquency of an insane street person.

Would you support Obama?

"No Muslims ever"

He's not a Muslim, so I take it you would support him? Not that we want the support of bigots.

@Jake S

You are attempting to smear a person for his family's religion, his country of origin, his name, and because of other politicians he has worked with.

None of what you said has anything to do with Barack Obama.

edit: anything to do with Barack Obama as a person, as a human being, as a politician, or the issues.

I will give you one simple answer: the issues. If you are a conservative, as I am, you simply disagree with Obama on many or most of the issues. The same reason why a liberal will not vote for a conservative candidate most of the time. Conservatism and Liberalism are two fundamentally different ideologies and points of view.

with the aid of fact all human beings it incredibly is working against him is much greater conservative. If the Republicans submit a real average, this could get a solid style of Obama helps to circulate over. you do no longer combat Obama's conservatism yet putting up human beings like Bachmann, say.

I could, and he is right, however, he is losing votes, not gaining them. I am afraid when we see him here in NH on primary night he will not be very happy!

I am not a conservative. Conservatives wrap themselves in the flag...and then rip the soldiers off! Let's see when they will start giving medical care to the wounded (while giving tax cuts to the rich) instead of all their BS about being a commie and un-American if you don't support the war! They talk a good fight. Unfortunately they don't fight a very good one!

Obama also concerns me for several other reasons:
(This is what I'm hearing and reading.)

-Obama grew up in a Muslim country, Indonesia.
His step father is Indonesian
His father is Muslim
Is his mother a converted Muslim?

-Obama changed his name to Barry when he moved to the United States

-Obama's father's family was involved in the MauMau uprising in Kenya, Africa many, many white settlers were slaughtered in the uprising (1950's)

-Obama got his start in Illinois politics when the Black Panthers sent him their to work with inner-city churches

-Obama was sponsored in his run for the Senate by two of the most corrupt politicians that Illinois has seen-and that's saying a lot. They're both under indictment.

How can you justify any of this?

No, but I agree he said things that need to be said, and I can understand why you would vote for him. For me to vote for him he would need to get behind the development of nonlethal weapons and nonlethal pregnancy termination technologies so Americans can be defended against crime, terrorism, and unwanted pregnancy without destroying innocent lives.

Just because the guy has a sound byte that would make a bald eagle cry won't make me vote for him.
