It is important to be involved in activities. Just joining clubs won't help you unless you are active or become an officer of the club.

YES!!!!!! Join a club, be in a sport, do something!! Extracurriculars are a big factor even if you are super smart. Colleges are looking for well rounded people, so JOIN JOIN JOIN! (and be an active member- not just someone who sits there because they think being in a club looks good for college :)

Everyone tell you that you should join many clubs to 'show diversity'. However, it is not good to wear your self to thin. You should focus your time on 2-3 clubs and commit to them. Colleges also like to see when your a leader or the president in the club. More advice - vollenteer! it could really set you apart.

yes they look at extracurricular activities, but they don't like seeing minimal participation in 100 clubs. they would rather see deep involvement in few. so pick a few you really like and commit to them. I was in the student body and in volleyball, kept my grades up and got into 6 of 6 schools that I applied to including sdsu, csulb, csusm, and drexel. Good luck.

Clubs, sports, and volunteer work are all good. It doesn't matter so much what you choose - so just do something you enjoy and get truly involved.
