I'm currently deciding on getting a new laptop and I found 2 decent laptops. One's AMD and the other Intel. I'm just wondering which is the best processor in terms of AMD, Intel and which is the best overall. Thanks!

The AMD Processor choices are:

AMD Athlon(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TK-53 (1.7 GHz, 512KB L2 Cache)
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-56 (1.8 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-58 (1.9 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-60 (2.0 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )
AMD Turion(TM) 64 X2 Dual-Core Mobile Technology TL-64 (2.2 GHz, 512KB+512KB L2 Cache )

And the Intel Processor Choices are:

Intel(R) Celeron(R) M Processor 520 (1.6 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
Intel(R) Pentium(R) dual core processor T2130 (1.86 GHz, 1MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2450 (2.0 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)
Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5300 (1.73 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)

What I really don't understand is that the Intel Core 2 Duo is the most expensive one but has only 1.73 Ghz...

Ok, well to be more specific the game I want to play is World of Warcraft. The reccomended specs for processor is:

Intel Pentium® IV 1.5 GHz or AMD XP 1500+ MHz

Assuming I just get

Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T5300 (1.73 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB)

would that run it well?

get the laptop with the core 2 duo, its much faster then any other chip in that list, regardless its slower clock speed. it has a large cache and a fast fsb.

graphics cards have more to do with gaming then the processor. u will want to get a laptop with a dedicated graphics card if u intend to play games on it.

The best processor for gaming in this case would be Intel Core Duo processor T2450 (2.0 GHz, 2MB L2 Cache, 533MHz FSB.

Couldn't really tell, but higher GHz are better, Dual-Core is almost a must and then AMD's known to run cooler with games.

personally i would go with the amd turion tl-64. always been partial to amd for cost and better performance. intel does also run hotter and i na laptop heat is an issue. and ofcourse if you get one with bare bones graphics forget gaming. check out alienware laptops.

Intel is better, and id say get the 2.0 GHz, it looks like a better deal than the 1.73 Ghz
