My mom found this spider in our hall way and we have no idea what it is. It has what seams to be 6 legs but it has 2, I guess mini legs, in the front of its body the it uses as well. We have had it in a little container trying to suffacate it and its been like 24 hours and it still hasn't died. We planned on killing it so we could examine it better, but we're not having any luck. It's body is about 1.5 cm long and about 1/2 cm wide. I'm not sure what it is but maybe someone else does. I hope someone can help me out... Thanks in advance.

poor thing to suffer in a jar - how about letting it go????
There are hundreds if not thousands of species of spiders and you have just described 1/2 of them.
My suggestion would be to see what you can find on the Internet. As a starting point, since you found him on the floor, I would guess that he is not a weaving spider which means that he doesn't make a web. He is probably a hunter or an ambush spider. Go to your search engine and search for ambush spiders. If you did find him in a web, then do a search for spiders that weave webs.
Good Luck! And please, let the poor thing go unless you have already killed him.

First of all what the heck do you want to kill it for or try & suffocate it. Just let the poor spider go outside and enjoy the rest of it's life - that's just nasty.

I think it's just a normal house spider, which might have two legs missing. And the small (mini legs) at the front are it's feelers which they use when catching pray and holding it to eat.

PLEASE let the spider go!!!!!!!!!!!!

Without a picture it would be difficult to help you.
You might try making a kill jar or just add a cotton ball with a bit of nail polish remover. Place it on a thread then add the remover and hang it inside the lid or follow the directions at the website below.

Can we have some more info please. Like what color is it. There are so many spiders. and for such a small spider I think that it will be able to like in that jar for awhile considering that he won't need much oxygen to live.
Thanks I'll check back...

I've got no idea what kind it is, but the best way to kill it is to put it in the freezer.

You'd have to give us more information, such as color and where you found it and where you live. Post another one with this information.
