I would agree with seth on the crf 250, but not on the ttr 50, you want a yz 125 or a YFZ 250 either, orall of the bikes i suggested are great bikes

If you are looking to ride MX you could probably handle a 250F although it would seem tall at first. If you are a teenager and still growing a 150R Expert would fit you now but you would out grow it soon and they are too expensive to only get one season out of. If you want to do casual trail riding and no jumping go for a CRF230F. It has much better power that the 150F and isn't much taller.

Shop around at different motorcycle shops.
Pretend you want to buy one and let a salesman recommend one.
When you find something you like - buy it used.
