Got a loonie with some change and it has 2008 as the year its minted? Are loonies usually made with the upcoming year printed on them? Its also got the olympic rings and maple leaf with an olympic type flame. The loon on it has its wings spread out.

They must have just released it. I have a fold given to me by a Canadian friend in it are places to put 15 quarters and 2 dollars. I have 2 quarters and they are dated 2007 on one side and 2010 on the other. They will be coming out of the Canadian mint as circulating commemorative's between 2007-2010. They must have released one of the Lucky Loonies early. Being an American I usually get the Canadian numismatic information slower than the people living in Canada. One thing, mints can get permission to release or date coins early or late and in the U.S. the reason there are no 1975 quarter dollars or half dollars is they were dated 1976. If you got it in change you must be Canadian so check with your mint. My friends from up north will send me mine when they get them. Hope this helps point you in the right direction.
