As a mother of 4 and preschool teacher I say YES, but it depends on the reason. A child doesn't need to be spanked for every little think he does wrong, but rather for major things, like running into the street. Then a swift swat on the behind is enough.

Yes, if they have done something that they knew they weren't supposed to do. I don't think spanking is appropriate with belts. There should also be age considerations...I wouldn't spank a small baby, and I wouldn't spank a 13 year-old. Depends on the child and the situation.

Well, let's think about this for a sec. It's kind of hypocritical to punish your child by spanking them if they hit someone isn't it? They hit somebody and their punishment is to get hit. What are you teaching the child? It's all right to hit if you are bigger than the other person. We are suppose to teach children the right way. If you don't want your child to hit others, don't hit your child. Obviously you want to teach them it is ok to defend themselves, but that is another subject.

I don't think its the worst thing you can do. Spanking doesn't make somebody a horrible parent.
That said, I tried it and it didn't work. It made my kids act all nasty and hit back. They don't do that anymore as they are older and I have learned how to reason with them.

Yes, I don't hurt my children but somethimes that is the only way to get their attention. i have tried all kinds if thing; time out, putting them in the corner, reasoning, taking something away from the that is important and many times spanking is the only thing that works.

i will say no!!as a psychologist s2dent may proff.tells us that if your child has a fault don`t spank him instead of spanking tell him/her thats a bad..because if you continue spank him it may cause to revellion....but if his/her fault is reasonable spank him but on the hand only...not in the body.....according to sigmund freud...

Yeah because you gotta discipline them but you can't injure them. You can spank them on the butt or on the hand but you can't abuse them. Just show them tough love.
