You need to get more speed. You belly flop because you jump and fall straight down. Point your fingers out and keep your arms straight (you can use your arms to help you launch by swinging them from your sides and up into position). Don't run (maybe take a step), but use the power of your legs to launch yourself forward. Imagine you're an arrow that was shot from a bow. It doesn't hurt and isn't dangerous, so don't worry about using too much force. The most dangerous/slow dives are those that go straight down, so aim yourself in a way that you will completely submerge yourself but be almost at the waters surface.

I always had trouble diving too. To start out, just stand on the end of the diving board, put your hands together like you are clapping, bend down like you are about to touch your toes, and just kind of fall of and you'll do fine. Its hard to do a belly flop that way. Once you get it down you can start running and jumping higher and higher until you have the perfect dive!

make sure you bend down when you jump this will insure you dont belly flop. dont try to dive shallow but aim for the bottom of the pool. dont try to jump to far out just dive down.

1. Bend over the edge of the pool. Waaaaayyy over.
2. KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN! Tuck your chin to your chest, and keep it there the whole time you are bending over the edge of the pool.
3. Fall in, hands first, then your head, then your back, then your butt, then your legs, then your feet. KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN! You flop when you pull your head up at the last minute.
4. Have someone who is a swim instructor or one of the lifeguards help you practice this. Your goal is to do number 3 in that exact order. AND KEEP YOUR HEAD DOWN! Chin on your chest the whole time! (when you pull your head up you throw off your angle of entry and center of gravity and it messes up your dive)
Good luck.

Well do you mean a swimming start? Or do you mean an actual dive off of a springboard? Let me know and send me a pm and I'll tell you about either one.
