Today is "1984", Motag's society, and Bergeron's society...terrifying. I am almost scared to post this.

Holy smokes. I couldn't agree with you more. I think this is my favorite question that I've ever read on Yahoo! Answers. Kudos to you for being bright and well-read enough to recognize this. :)

OMG! STFU! Cameras in libraries that make sure people aren't committing acts of vandalism or theft and if they are these tapes exist that can be used as evidence against the perps? That is wrong! As wrong as databases that keep track of the library's books out on loan and that can tell you if a book is checked out or not and save you the time and the effort of looking for the book in the stacks only to find out its not there. That is simply ridiculous! I am shocked, shocked I say! And outraged too! Yeah, outraged!

Things today aren't great but they aren't as bad as all that.

Maybe they haven't banned books yet, but there are video cameras at most libraries to watch what you are doing and a database keeps track of what you check out !
