exactly askthe pizza guy,

Though living under strict communism for many years with no real repercussions from the US,

it does very well switching right over to Fascism, it's brand of capitalist oppression, where not only are the people not free, they are made a slave!

No wonder these Repugs think it's great!

Governments and ideaology evolve... China evolved smartly by opening their markets and privatizing industry while retaining a Communist regime.

The people who get on yahoo and say that socialism and/or communism has proven to be a failure always somehow forget the communist nations in South East Asia. I am not an advocate of communism in the least but it obviously works if the regimes are capable of changing policies to meet the current market places. I am just glad I don't live under a system like that.

Terribly.

Read about the revolution which killed millions, and the great leap forward which killed millions more. Mass death, loss of freedom, and economic ruin for most people was the result of communism in China.

The ONLY reason China is doing well is through the virtual enslavement of it's workforce. No human rights or civil rights or basic services are offered by the government. People are poor, conditions are bad, and there is a growing upper class getting rich. If I didn't know better, I would say that the Chinese perfected fascism, not communism.

If you are still young you should be more respectfull. They will probably be THE superpower in 20 or 30 years. Only joking. My guess is that they are slowly moving away from communism but that doesn't mean they will be like America. There are other ways of running a country you know. Only time will tell but I do not think the Chinese will fall in a big heap, like the Russians. They are made of sterner stuff than that.

The place is a crap-hole and the people who come from there act like dogs who have just been whipped. ....until they get a little freedom. Then they go a bit crazy with it, but eventually turn into normal people with spines.

It's still going. However, impending collapse is forcing the ever increasing implementation of capitalist philosophies.
Another generation is privileged to watch as Communism fails yet again.
And still they seem to cry for it in the streets.
Curious, isn't it?

It hasn't, China learned the lesson from the Soviet Union's demise and has loosened its economic policies to be more liberal.
