Im a young single mother. Im 20 and i have a 5 month old son. The only way that im making it is by me having faith in God. Leave it all to him and he will take care of u. It mite not seem like it at times but u the baby and ur girlfriend will get thru it. Jus stay tru to urselfs and each other and the baby and u will make it. Dnt b afraid to ask for help. I try not to because i know that i havent been in a struggle bad enough to ask for it. Also let ppl offer u things n dnt turn it down. Jus do a favor in return that they will like. Hope everything works out for u both and the baby. Remember that everything happens for a reason and that if God didnt think that u guys arent ready for a child then he wouldnt have given u one on the way. Good Luck with everything.

of course ! Tell your girl friend to hi tail on over to the Dept of Humon Services /DHS /in her town. She may qualify for food stamps and that other program for un wed mothers ( WIC ) I think its called .-stands for Women and Children or something. Anyhow, they WANT your girlfriend to be healthy and deliver a healthy baby, so proper food (nutrition) and adequate medical care (free medicaid for the poor) will help assure the two of you of that.. btw next time; use protection - silly.. And by all means; be a man; step up to the plate and get a Real job for now,,and your starving artist hobby can be placed on the back burner. See, a new Baby changes Everything. You 2 are All your new baby-to-be has... in this whole world ..So take responsibility for what you started here, and grow up !

Not being a jerk here, just using common sense: I wonder if a box of condoms costs less that your art supplies? Being old enough to have a girlfriend who is in college, you should have been responsible enough to realize that unprotected sex usually equals pregnancy, and that an ounce of prevention is worth a lifetime of parenthood. I honestly don't think that with MY taxes that I work hard for *I'm a welder in a nuc. submarine* should go to every assanine government project PLUS irresponsible young people who would rather have the feel of raw skin than use a condom.
I got raped at 14, and raised my daughter with no welfare help at all, and no parental support. I got a JOB, yo. If a little teen girl can do it, I'm sure you won't hurt your spoiled self too much.

She will qualify for WIC (Women's Infant & Children) They will subsidize certain foods while she is pregnant and after she gives birth if she is nursing. If not nursing, they will subsidize formula.
You might also qualify for Smart Start if she is a full time student. They subsidize daycare and the parent fee is based on how many credit hours you take vs. your income.
I would think you would qualify for Medicare. My best suggestion would be to contact your local WIC office (can find it online) or your local Child Services center and ask what you DO qualify for...
Perhaphs until further notice (or until she graduates), you could go work... Maybe for a museum, or teaching art to young children??? Something in your field, but that brings in a more steady income.
For items, you can try lookinf at ebay and www.craigslist.com

Try this website:
http://dhfs.wisconsin.gov/guide/parents/index.htm
I would also try contacting your local Job and Family services or other government agency (try looking in your local phone book)
Also, her school should have information about receiving help... she could check with a councilor or with student information....
There are lots and lots of information and help available... but no one is going to do the work for you. You guys are really going to have to put forth some effort and make phone calls... it's a pain in the *** but for the well being of your girlfriend and your soon to be child it's totally worth the hassle.
Congratulations and best of luck!!

you should qualify for aide.. Jersey has a program called WIC that doesn't really give money, but it gives food and drinks to the mother and child.. It's assistance that doesn't require much asking.
for more assistance, you're most likely going to be required to get a real job.. I know it sux that you might have to give up on what you really love to do, but you've made a choice in having this baby and you're better off flipping burgers and having her finish school that not.
Good Luck to you - Years down the road, you'll remember how you got through this... but it'll take work.

She can apply for Medicaid for Pregnant Women ~ check with your local health department of Division of Children & Families for instructions. She may have to take some time and go to their office but will likely be able to apply on-line. They have a couple different programs she may be eligible for depending on her income. Apply for WIC also, they will help with nutritional guidance and provide milk, cheese, eggs, etc. during the pregnancy and a little bit afterwards. They will also help with nutrition for the newborn if she does not breastfeed.
Good Luck.

Not to be ugly here, but I am having a hard time being sympathetic of the situation. Why should the goverment pay for your mistake? Myself and many other friends lived our lives responsiblity and not once did the government or anyone else for that matter "reward" our behavior, so why should the government "reward" yours. This pattern has applied to my college and career. Do the right thing grow up, get a better job, and make it work, no one owes you anything. I see it as the responsbile people are paying for others irresponsibilities.

I'm not sure about where you live but here in SC you can. Excuse the people who left rude remarks, children are expensive even if you do have a job. I'm not saying be lazy you two should set good examples for your children but it sounds to me like you are trying. I hope you have good luck. Check out food stamps, W.I.C and government assistance all together.
