the thing is most of our customers that i have noticed don't care how we look, to them we are working in fast food so its the lowest of the low, we have nice plaid button down shirts that look nice either tucked in or out, as long as the shirt doesn't hit your knees, in my opinion if an employee is more comfortable with their shirt out then they are more comfortable at work but my managers are always telling us to tuck in our shirts, even if i'm on the grill were no one can see me, i work at wendys by the way.

Welllll.. I suppose if you're SUPPOSED to tuck in your shirt, then do what you have to do.

Just don't look bad! To me, tucked in shirts or untucked shirts don't really matter to me. Unless you're wearing those suits with a large gangster like t-shirt showing even under your jacket.

Anyway, just be nice, gentle, and funny. Many people like funny guys.

I work for Mc Donald's and the managers are always telling employees t otuck their shirts in. It has to do with taking pride in the job you are doing. A lot of people assume that if you look messy, that you are not clean, or keeping the restaurant clean. I used to have to wear a chef coat in the middle of Summer in a kitchen that was 120 degrees, while I was pregnant, but that was the company rules. I don't really care myself as long as their hair is not hanging in the food...that's GROSS.

From my point of view, tucked in shirts make people look cleaner, and the cleaner you look, the cleaner the food seems. Seriously, though, if you're working the drive thru, you might as well be wearing pajamas. Basically, the only person who has to look good is the cashier, maybe the visible food preparers.

I hate doing that tucking in the shirt, makes me feel so uncomfortable. I think you should have a choice. They should give you an apron to wear, so your shirt does not tourch the grill so you don't catch on fire.

So now I have to say, I won't be working for fast food places.
I ain't tucking in my shirt!

Honestly,

All I want is my food, clean and warm in a reasonable time frame with a damned straw! Most of the fast food places I go to are run by people who are mad that I had the nerve to come in and order food! Then they take FOREVER to get the food and by the time the order arrives (of course it's wrong) I'm wondering how safe it is to eat. Last week I was at Blimpies for lunch and watched the lady spend TEN FREAKING minutes trying to stab a pickle in the a jar with a fork. JEEZE!

I don't care if your shirt's tucked in, just please do your damned job.

I could care less about the shirts being tucked in as long as the person looks neat or clean. This one guy waiter had long nails and they were dirty so that turned me off. As long as the hands are clean and the person is presentable I am ok.

Besides the food what matters most is how friendly and courteous the employees are. If they smile and are friendly it doesn't matter what they look like.

There is a mentally challenged man in his 40's or 50's working at a McDonald's near my house. He never forgets straws, napkins or anything, always has a smile and is sincerely friendly. He puts 110% into his job and it shows.

They shoud make him a Manager...

How an employee looks will affect how you think about the food. If they don't look professional you might think the food is low quality and you won't enjoy it as much. Restaurants, even fast food ones, are all about the complete dining experience.

I wouldn't care if the person had their shirt tucked in or not. BUT, if the person serving my food looks like a total slob (food ALL OVER them, hair flying everywhere, teeth not brushed, ect) Then it would make me think "eww THEY are making my food?"
