Yes it will work. I have a 8800GTX with a 19" FP monitor @ 1400 X 900.

Make sure the card will fit in your case as its 12 inches long and occupies 2 slots.
Also make sure your power supply can handle this card as it requires two 6-pin PCI express supplementary power connectors OR two 4-pin molex power connectors.

I'd say that 1680x1050 is the sweet spot for an 8800 GTX. Great performance and graphics, any higher would lower the performance some more. Just my personal opinion, wait until Christmas or so before you buy a video card. Nvidia's next card is rumored to come out November-December. Codenamed G92, it's rumored to have teraflop processing power and is 2-3 times faster than the 8800 GTX. If it turns out to be false, the 8800 gtx will go down in price anyway :P

Yes monitors will work when set to lowwer resolution higher resolutions is the real problem. The graphics card will adapt quite readily. 1) Check and make sure that the 8800 gtx will fit in your case !!! 2) make sure your power supply has more than enough wattage for that card!!

Yes, it'll work. 2560 x 1600 is the MAX the card can do, but it can do smaller resolutions are well. You may want to get a Wide screen 20" monitor.

Also, make sure your computer's power supply can handle the card. If you need to buy a replacement power supply, check out http://www.newegg.com or a local store computer store.

yes.
I have a 8800GTS and a 22" LCD and they work great. A 20" at 1680 will be fine.

Most games run well on high settings at 1680 res, but it also depends on your ram and CPU. I have 4 GB ram and C2D E6600 cpu and all is good.
