Here are some that I found doing a search for baby names containing "rus:"

Andrus
Cyrus
Icarus
Lazarus
Maurus
Prosperus
Russ
Rustam
Rustin
Ruston
Siorus

Here's the link to that search for the rest of them:
http://www.babynamesworld.com/search.php?p=qsearch&s_gender=1&s_copt=1&i_search=rus&s_filter=0&=a

Here's one that means "rust:"

Arun

Here are some that mean "red" or "red-headed:"

Flynn
Phoenix
Radburn
Radley
Rawley
Reid / Reed
Roan
Rory
Rowan / Rowen

Here's a link to the others that I found with this search:
http://www.babynamesworld.com/search.php?p=meaning&r_meaning=1&s_mfilter=1&i_meaning=red&i_nmeaning=&s_filter=0&=a&page=

Of these names, the ones I like the most are Cyrus, Arun, Flynn, Phoenix, Reid, and Rowan. I do like the name Russell, though. Is there a reason that you don't want that name?

You could always nickname your child "Rusty" whether it connects to his name or not... especially if it has special meaning. He may have red hair or look especially red when he cries...

Good luck!

Why do you want to nickname your boy Rusty? Nicknames are usually picked because of the person's personality or some characteristic of theirs pertains to that, or a cute nickname that matches them personally. Really you should wait until your wee one is born, and pick out his nickname from there. But if you're adament about this nickname, then may be ....OK, here's a few that I just found...sorry they're all starting with R:
Rastus-from Greek-meaning LOVE
Rawley-from English-meaning RED WOOD
Rayburn-from English-meaning ROEBUCK STREAM
Reece-from Welsh-meaning ENTHUSIASM
Reid-from English-meaning RED
Roan-from Gaelic-meaning Little Red One (this one I like)
Ross-from Gaelic-meaning Bluff or Cliff

There's a few that you might can get Rusty out of. Good luck.

Well, from a etymological standpoint, rusty isn't a nickname of any particular name ... it was given to people with reddish brown (rusty) hair. So if he has the right hair color you can just call him Rusty without feeling the last lick of guilt ^_^

I've known a few guys that are just flat out named Rusty, so that's always an option.

Ambrus
Andrus
Petrus
Ruslan
Russ
Rustam
Severus
Theodorus

...Rustam seems the most obvious candidate. There are more Egyptian/Greek/Indian names as well, but I left them out because they're probably not anywhere near useable for you.

Ruston/Rustin; Russell (as you said); Russman. But - if you like the name "Rusty" - why not just name him that? There's no law that says it has to be a nickname!

Farris Trahern (or Ferous if you want to mean Iron only)
Farris means "Iron Strong"
and Trahern means "with the strength of Iron"
Very cool names for when her outgrows "Rusty"
You could also combine a good "iron" name with a good "water or river" name like "Romney" or "Ford" or "Wade"...thereby creating "rusty"

It doesn't matter what his given name is. If you want to call him 'Rusty' that doesn't need to have anything to do with his actual name
