Final Fantasy 8 is just a game. There was a movie of 7, not 8, so I have no idea why people are telling you it was both a game and a movie. It's just a game, and a fun one at that. It was released for the PS1.

Ummmm, its a game, a great one at that, for PS1.
the sequal to final fantasy VII (7) was made as a movie, thats where the confusion may lie.

It's both, actually. But the game came out first in 1997. The movie, either in 2005 or 2006.

yeah dude i agree. Final Fantasy 8 was under appreciated. Playing cards was the best part! Hopefully you beat quistis right and got that item that makes you invincible? i liked that game cause you could cheat the system. I could get 5000 hp 2 hrs into the game.

it is a video game for the playstation. it is also playable on the ps2, and i believe on the computer as well.
