Most primates are familiar with the concept of hygiene and although the act of wiping may not be as mechanical as in us humans, it is done nonetheless. Rather than wiping using their hands it is acheived by rubbing the soiled netherregions against an object.

Monkeys wear diapers when owned by individuals.
They do not wipe their rears after defecating.
They poop and run. The feces is solid and formed in such a way that it does not attach to the body.
Monkeys do not have hair on the rear like dogs and cats. The butt area is bald.
Monkeys do rub urinate on items and it appears as if they are rubbing the urine on.
I have observed monkeys of all types at many Zoos.
Now you can tell the child about how interesting the topic was. Any question like this is just showing curiosity.

as gross at that question is, I have never actually watched a monkey relieve itself and what it does in the aftermath, however, I have seen many cattle, hogs, horses cats and dogs do their business, and I cant say that I would think a monkey would do anything more than they do unless trained to do so.
