I was reading a manuel and it said to "disconnect the battery ground." What Does That Mean?

It's another way of saying disconnecting the negative battery cable.

beware removing the negative battery cable as this could cause all your electronic controls to lose their memory on all vehicles built after 1981 as they have a PCM. The battery ground cable is the wire running from the negative post to the frame.

Take the cable off of the negative terminal of the battery.
