i have a betta thats living in a 1 gallon tank.. once every few hours, i notice that theres a bed of foam in the corner of the tank. i know the fish is making this, but i scoop it out anyway.

why does he make foam? is that a bad thing?

It is a bubble nest. It is normal. If you want, you can scoop it out, but he's just going to make a new one. It is a sign that it is ready to breed. If you do attempt breeding, be sure to learn about conditioning though, or you will end up with dead fish.

It's ready to mate and so it's making a nest. It's not bad and it won't hurt anything. I wouldn't waste time scooping it every time you see it, just let it make its nest.

This happened to my betta 2 wks ago. The pet shop said they do it as instinct whether they're mating or not. Just keep scoopin'!
