I'm really nervous and scared even though I do the things that increase my anxiety so it's not like I am totally avoiding it. It's just so embarassing. I wish I could be calm and confident.

Always think positive and always count your blessings, e.g., your stable job, your supportive family, your beautiful place of residence, your good neighbors, your assets (physical and material things), your education (there are people out there who can't even read or write), among other things. Lastly, you can always pray and ask for help that things will turn out okay and better.

For me, meditation and my spirituality helped me conquer much of my anxiety. There is also drug intervention and behavioral therapy, depending on the severity of your anxiety. (Anxiety disorder is a medical condition.) Different things work for different people. It's kind of a trial and error kind of thing.

It's natural and healthy to have a certain amount of anxiety, and it sounds like you are making the effort to loosen anxiety's hold on you and to regain your power. Again, it is ultimately a medical condition, so I would rule out any physiological causes first.

Believe me I know it is a mind thing. So meditate, think of something that is really calming and wonderful to you(for me it's the beach or my grandchildren). Prayer helps me also. Even though I now take a medication there or times I do these things to help. Once I was just sitting, doing a crossword and my anxiety started, the doctor said the mind is a big thing.
