The est answer is really a ad answer. Here is how to do it: Ex: what is .41 feet? 1. Multiply .41 by 12, ecause there are 12 inches in a foot. 2. .41 X 12= 4.92. So .41 feet = 4.92 inches.B ut wait! We still have a decimal to deal with! Never fear. Do the same thing with a frqaction of an inch that gives you the accuracy you need. Let's say you can get away with a 16th of an inch accuracy. So... 3. Multiply .92 y 16 = 14.72. OK, throw away the .72, because you don't care about 72 hundredths of a sixteenth of an inch. Now we have 14/16ths. reduce the fraction and you have 7/8. So, .41 feet equals 4 & 7/8ths inches! See! That was easy, and the math was good for your brain!

The Formula to convert inches to the decimal part of a foot would be : # of inches divided by 12 which in decimals would be 0.083333 x number of inches. On a calculator plug in # of inches, and divide by 12. For your 7 inch example this would be 7 / 12 = .583333 foot.

do you mean inches, in terms of feet (ie. 6 inches - .5 feet)? If so, simply divide the inches by 12.

I think you mean metric not decimal. One inch equals 2.54 centimeters, so 7 X 2.54 is the formula for this.

You mean metric? 1 inch = 25.4 mm
7*25.4 gives the length in mm.
If you want feet. divide inches by 12 or
7 inches = (7/12) ft
