Of course it is thats what attracts women to men. Men are born with the art of manipulation. They have the ultimate reason for lying to women. All women enjoy being flattered so its easy for men to get what they want. All they want is sex and there happy.

Sometimes...
Flattery can and is used to manipulate people on a regular basis but that does not mean that is necessarily a lie of any shade. It can simply mean that I am excessively praising qualities that a person actually possesses. Or in some cases it can be practiced just to give someone an emotional lift without expecting any return. Ok technically that is manipulating some one's emotions, yes, but that is not manipulation in the sense that I am trying to maneuver them into any specific action. I believe that we all should practice the fine art of flattery (praising excessively but not insincerely) more often for the simple reason of making those we know and care about feel all lovely and fuzzy on the inside.

Because "flattery" is used to seek approval from others by praising them or behaving toward them in an obsequious or servile manner, it's clearly not sincere, & has its "motivations." INSINCERE COMPLIMENTS. I wouldn't even consider it a white lie, because white lies are often a way of sparing someone's feelings. A white lie isn't for self gain. I'd agree that flattery is used for manipulation. But, it's not a "white lie."

Flattery is a means of passive aggressive manipulation. Why else would anyone needlessly point out or even exaggerate someone else's qualities? Only to gain something somehow. Affection, favors, good grace, reciprocated flattery... etc!
PS: Not a white lie. When one gains undeserved advantages someones else is losing opportunities. White lies are supposed to have no significant negative effects...

Appreciation and worship are what life is really about, so we deserve a little favoritism for our flattery. I guess I should stop being so grouchy.

Honest flattery is a gift you give to another person.
I try to do it to someone at least once a day.

"Are you trying to seduce me Mrs. Robinson?"
Couldn't resist it.
I think the only point to be made here is that flattery maybe sincere praise with no ulterior motive behind it.
You just like what you see.
You open your mouth and what happens happens.
Did you cause it?
No.
Did you effect it?
Could be.
There is direct no cause and effect here.
