I am sure you can see it. It maybe hard to recognise it from directly above - all the land tends to lose its elevation.

But you raise a good point people should be aware of, that the world is a bigger, emptier place than people these days think. You don't have to zoom out far on Google before all evidence of humans disappear.

I couldn't find the Great Wall of China once i'd zoomed out just a bit. probably after about 50 miles up the Great Wall would vanish, simply because though it is long it is very narrow - like looking at a long hair from 50 meters away. Theoretically, you could see the length from space, but the narrowness of the wall would deny it being seen.

So, it is a myth about the Great Wall being the only man-made structure visible from space - nothing man-made is visible.

But I am sure you can see the Grand Canyon. I have seen canyons on Mars in pictures taken from probes orbiting that planet.

I don't know what you're looking for, but I can assure you the canyon is there on maps.live.com and on flashearth.com as well.

I suspect, and no disresepct intended, that you just don't know what to look for. If you go to www.flashearth.com and scroll along to 36 degrees 15' N, 113 degrees W you will have the Grand Canyon running right across your screen.

I don't know where you're looking, but as soon as I went on the website it immediately opened to an overview of the Grand Canyon. Just which state were you looking at?

Were you perhaps too close up and you were unable to see the canyon walls, just the canyon floor?

The Great Barrier Reef is one feature on Earth that's visible from space.
