I have a Magic Chef dishwasher. The model number is DU2J. I believe that it was built around 1999.

It leaks in the front. It does not seem to leak anywhere else. My plumber said that the dishwasher is level and believed that it needs a seal on the door.

The dishwasher washes beautifully. The exception--the leaking in the front.

The appliance man says that the seal is just fine. He tested the dishwasher for a few minutes and it did not leak. He said that I was using the wrong dishwasher detergent.

Well, I bought Cascade 2 in 1 Action pads. He suggested them and said that the machine should work fine.

Well, it is still leaking. Any suggestions

usualy the cause for leakage around the door seal is Lime,
use a Lime remover on the seal and the door part where the seal contacts, it is hard to see but can cause leakage,
a luqid type soap will help but its the water , where the lime comes from

From your description there are two reasons why a dishwasher will leak. 1; the seal is bad. Yours is not. 2;the door is misaligned with the body of the washer. This may be caused by a few reasons. The counterweights which keep the door from slamming to the floor when you open it are worn out. Something was wedged in the door when it was closed. Both of these reasons will cause the hinges to become stretched or loose; and/or the door is slightly bent. Ultimately the door will not fit properly against the seal causing it to leak. Whether it is the door or the hinges it is probably time to buy a new one if you don't want to put up with the leak.

Well, at the risk of sounding crass, you could do what I did in the same situation. Suck it up.

I started putting bath towels around the bottom of the dishwasher, in case it leaked. There was no obvious reason for it, and, like yours, my repairman said everything was in order and functioning properly.

I honestly don't know what else to suggest. Mine doesn't always leak. I usually use the gel liquids. As I said, put bath towels down every time, and if they aren't needed, set them aside until the next time. They WILL be needed sooner or later.

Mine is a Sears small-size dishwasher. It works fine except for the leaking, and I've had it 24 years. It's always been like this.

Steve may be correct, but I would just watch it carefully and see where the water is leaking from. check http://appliancequickfix.com/ for more information on dishwashers.
