You have only one chance and that may have passed. Remove the battery immediately.
Set the phone on a window sill, with the window open and a breeze. Allow it to dry for at least 48 hours.
Second option, use a hair dryer on it but it best that you wrap the phone in a towel first and then blow air into the towel from one end...basically you do not want to blow the hot air directly onto the phone. Do this for about 10 minutes, open the towel to allow the heat to escape, wait about 1/2 an hour and repeat. Do this three or four times and then left phone sit over night.
In both of the above scenarios, open the phone up completely and when you remove the battery, leave the back cover off.
Place the battery in a dry towel over night...
Once you've followed either one of the above sceanrios completely...and I mean completely, plug in the battery and try it.
If at this point it doesn't work, then it is fried and it would not be worth attempting to fix...bury it at sea!
Hopefully the above will help...always note, any time electronics falls into water, remove any batteries immediately and allow to try for a number of days. Many times this will work if your fast in removing the batteries and patient in waiting for it to dry properly.
Submersing your phone immediately in rubbing alcohol may work also...I have never tried this however I speculate that it may also work in that rubbing alcohol is non conductive and therefore wouldn't burn anything out if it had batteries in it and secondly it repels water and therefore removing water from sensitive components...not sure about this statement but it's worth a try for me in the near future as my cell phone contract expires shortly.
I'll tell you how it turns (burns) out...

My sister had the same thing happen.
She let hers dry out and it worked for her, she took off the battery and anything that came apart easily and let it sit in a dry warm place. It worked in a few days when she put it back together.
The other option if you don't have insurance on your phone, and drying it out doesn't work is this...
Buy insurance for your phone, wait until you have made a payment towards the insurance. Do not tell the phone company that your phone is not working or that you dropped it in water. After you have made a payment, call and say your phone is not working, they'll send you a new one because you have insurance and you wont have to buy another.
you may have to wait awhile with this plan though. some companies require that you have insurance for a certain amount of time before you can use it to replace your phone.

OK here's the deal
its not the water that will damage your phone, its the electrolytic action caused by passing electrical current through the water that ruins it!
if you took the battery out straight away then things look good
leave it to dry out in an airing cupboard for a few days and things should be fine
if on the other hand you left the battery in for more than a few seconds, I'm afraid its all over!

Open up the back, where the battery goes in, there should be an indicator that tells you if the interior unit has been wet and it will show if it's good. Usually it turns from green to white is it's no longer usable. Hope you have insurance.\
Some of these cell phones only have to be "damp" to be no good anymore.

My phone fell into pond once. It actually worked for a week. Later then it just unexpectedly turned off couple times. I asked to verizon wireless and they said you have to get a new phone or just wait til the end of the contract. I am not sure with your phone though. If you have phone insurance, they might fix your phone for free. Good luck.

there isn't something you're able to do now. as quickly as you plugged it back in and the water wasn't completely removed from it, you fried it through fact the water short-circuited the circuits interior the boards. You mandatory to have completely gotten it dry earlier putting the battery back in and turning it on. it is why you're taking the battery out at present day. it is sort of like frying an egg, as quickly as you fry an egg it is not comparable to you are able to turn it into an unfried egg back.

Take the battery out, and let everything dry out for a day or so before trying it again. I knew someone that dropped a game boy in water, and letting it dry out did the trick.

ROFL!!! I did something like that too. I dropped one into a glass of water next to the bed. It no longer works. I don't really think you can fix them. The only possibility is to wait a few weeks until it completely dries and see if anything was damaged and if it works. You can't actually fix it, I don't think.

My fiance had the same thing happen to his Razr when he accidentally jumped in the pool with it. When he went to the Cingular store, the only thing they said he could do was buy a new one. If it has a Smart IC chip, then you might still be able to save all of your data and transfer it to the new one.

I really don't think it can be fixed, I have gotten a little water, in mines and had to replace the whole thing. I hope you put insurance on it.
