Honey, if you like him then go for it! If they are real friends they will support you and be more than thrilled for you if things work out. And don't doubt yourself sweetie, there's beauty in everyone!

Dear someonestrange5,
You didn't say whether or not he likes you too.!! Nevertheless. It appears to me that your friends are not terribly concerned with what makes you happy. Why would you even call them friends? It sounds like you are seeking their approval on what you should do with your own life! That's more of a parents role than theirs. Do you really think if one of them had a crush on someone, they would stop having that crush just to appease you? I think not:, Friends, true friends don't need to be impressed. They are suppose to take you as you are. And be supportive not negative. Who the hell are they to judge your taste in another human being.?. You have the right and the luxury of picking and choosing to whom you associate with, and want as a friend or lover. How dare they even take that personal right from you. As an adult no one should be given that kind of power over you. You must have a mind of your own.! Use it!! If you don't, you most undoubtedly will be passing off some wonderful people that are much better for you than the one's you have in your life right now. I say go with how you feel, not go for what they want. Whose life is it anyway? I promise you. You will Thank me down the road if you follow this advice. It's very sound I assure you.
Good Luck,
Sincerely,
Marseille

Absolutely and completely ignore what your friends have to say on this issue. If you like him, and there is a chance he likes you, just work on that friendship. When you are grown, your appearance will have matured and he may be a hunk. Being popular stops being a concern the second you step out of high school, trust me. Be smart, and the friendship you develop now may last for years and years. Do your own decision making.

go with your heart, beuaty is only skin deep. my best friend is very annoying at times but he's a really nice guy that would give the shirt off his back, he's just usually right and knows it wich makes him annoying. talk to him and see where things go. if your friends are true friends than the will accept him. it took me awhile to get used to my bestfriends wife (iI found here really annoying) but we're great friends now!

I'll never forget in school I had a mad crush on this guy, that my best friend had to tell me how much she hated every chance she got. I kept my crush to myself...and guess what? She asked him out..just wanted him for herself. Bet half your friends like the black belt guy, and just won't admit. If they don't..go for it anyway.
