Hi, I"m going to be working this year (at least for a while) and I will be working 10 hours a week. I will be taking 16 credit hours and I'll be a freshman. I have a math class on monday 8-9:15, a history class after in the same building, an environmental sci lab after that, and my environ class after that. i do not have a break on this day, but tuesday i don't start class until 9:30, and i don't have another class until 12:30 and it lasts until 1;45. wednesday i have thes same first two classes as monday and i have esci at like 2 until 3:15. thursday i have english and history and theres a big break between those and on wednesdays classes i end class at like 10:45 and have one more at 2. friday i don't have clases and saturday, or sunday. and i'll have plenty of time to study then. i'm not a partier so i believe ill have plenty of time to study... have any of you worked during college and how did it go, was it managable, how many hours did you have?

i do not want to be sitting in my room bored during my freshman year, i want to have fun but be studious at the same time. i'm so excited about everything. i'm going to work at the bookstore on campus, and it closes around 5 each day so it won't be bad hours. thanks

I did and at times took 20 units at a time. My best student last year was working three jobs while taking a full class load. It takes maturity to keep your priorities in place, but it can work. Most students need to work at least some of the time these days, so you won't be alone.

I worked 24 hours a week while a full-time student in college. I graduated with honors. It takes dedication, but it can be done. Make sure you take time for you as well so you don't burnout. Always keep the end goal in sight. Good luck.

Excellent job. I wish I could do that, no jobs available.

Working and employment usually don't mix if your a science/math/business major. Classes become increasingly difficult every semester. I'm in my senior year now and I don't plan on having my gpa plummet b/c of a job. Its not going to hurt you NOT having to work if you don't need to.

Either way, trust me, you won't be bored. College is more work than you think it is.

i worked while my freshman year in college. first semester i took 20 units, and second i took 16. i started working 30 hour weeks, and i got good grades because i stayed up at night. if you're dedicated, you'll do fine. just remember to study, read the text, and do your homework no matter what. oh, and try not to procrastinate. good luck =) you'll do fine.
