What is wrong with America? Have you all turned into a bunch of wussie democrats? These border patrol agents did their job, and shot the guy in the a** (DID NOT KILL HIM).

The illegal was smuggling drugs across the border, and the agents felt that they were in danger. He did exactly what he was supposed to. It's sickening to think that they are serving prison time now. I know I wouldn't want to work for the border patrol if that's the kind of crap that our government is going to be pulling.

Bullshi* is all I have to say, and Bush is an a** for not giving them a pardon. Totally ridiculous.

It's literally a borderline issue. While people can understand what they did, many are afraid that to pardon them would create open season on shooting illegals. Most agree that's not the way to deal with most illegals. Maybe folks should push for a commutation rather than a pardon? That way they don't go to prison for shooting violent drug dealers crossing the border and there's no message to the public which makes it ok to just shoot anyone crossing the border.

He won't pardon them because that's not part of his plan, dearie. They were interfering with his agenda to keep the borders open and encourage more Mexicans to come in and take over; they won't be released from prison until the Big Changes come and Bushie is removed from office and prosecuted for treason along with everyone else in the White House and U.S. govt.

BUSHCO,,,has no reason to even care one way or another about that situation..they broke the law,,like many of us do,,,uuups,,,a flip here a flop there,,,in their case a gun was used,,,,,I believe that's 10-20 years mandatory fed pen....that is probably why,,,but bush could pardon them,,,but bush wants the borders open. He needs the Mexican presidents backing because he's trying to deal with the immigration issue. Obviously, Mexicans weren't happy the agents shot someone getting into America (obviously because alot of them don't want to get shot crossing the border). So Mexican people get outraged, Mexican president knowing American president needs Mexican help pushes the issue, Mexican president wins and subdues his people (American president outrages ours).

I love the answers here, "it's okay, they were on duty". What a crock. They were convicted. By all credible accounts, they deserved conviction. I have worked with Border Patrol personnel. Not one of them has ever expressed any sympathy for these two knuckleheads. Read the factsheet below.

They went to prison because they were convicted by a jury of having violated the law.

The fact that they were "on the job" when they violated the law isn't relevant -- either the law applies toe everyone or it's meaningless to have law enforcement.

People don't get a free pass to break the law just because you like them -- that's not a legal system.

The DA tried to get them to plea bargain, but they thought the right wing media hype of them (FALSELY) being painted as hero's would save them, they got what they deserved, and if Bush pardons them it would not surprise me. Bush condones criminal conduct ie; Libby.

definite they could be pardoned! they could have been reprimanded for not killing him nevertheless. an identical guy replaced into later arrested smuggling extra drugs around the border! they could have shot to kill! might have been much less workplace work!
