KOT makes good points. If as he puts it , there is no possibility of retaliation once you are nuked, what is the option for Israel or the world when N weapons fall into the hands of Loony Ghadafis of this world . Ghadafi is an honored fig in Pakistan and they have named a stadium after him.

Apparently "dream girl " hasn't heard of the 1600 year old Bamiyan Buddhas in Afghanistan which her beloved Mohammedan brothers blew to smithereens just for the fun of it.

If any Mohammedan country nuked Israel, they would, of course, be nuking the Al Aqsa Mosque as well, so the term "holy site" just doesn't seem to be in the Mohammedan vocabulary . . . as we witness daily in Iraq.

And, to answer your question, I think 5 minutes after a nuke hit Israel, Mecca and Medina would be turned into smoking, glass paved parking lots!

And that would be just the beginning.

Then the civilized world that's been harboring, feeding, educating, supporting and succoring these Mohammedans would turn its full, frustrated, and fully justified fury on them.

And then, may G-d have mercy on their souls . . .

Very good and interesting question to answer. This is all very hypothetical and probably will not happen, so don't take this too seriously. Sorry about the editing here, I even added 2 extra paragraphs to the beginning.

If you want to learn more about nukes in the middle east, you should look up a man by the name of Abdul Qadeer Khan (A.Q. Khan). He created Pakistan's bomb and is admired as a hero in Pakistan. He and his organization also sold, illegally, weapons materials to Iran, North Korea, Libya and other places.

Please remember this, Pakistan has nuclear weapons 30-50 presently, and is very good allies with Saudi Arabia, which means Saudi Arabia could be acquiring nukes from Pakistan in time, if Iran, Saudi Arabia's enemies, gets nukes. But this is less important, but the backlash Israel faces could be quite severe from these two countries if Mecca and Medina are nuked. Also, consider the idea that the middle east is still the main supplier of oil, which means that Western civilization would gradually decline because of insufficient energy sources, if some of those Middle Eastern countries were nuked.

To answer, I don't believe Mecca or Medina will be targeted by nukes.

Check out Project Sampson, an Israeli idea that has said that if Israel is going to be destroyed, they will fire off all their nuclear weapons, from what I remember.

First of all, this would be an amazingly tragic situation which the world has yet to prepare for, at least in my opinion. The nuking of anywhere right now, could have the potential because of the "Mutual Destruction" rule to end mankind's existence on this planet. But who are you saying will nuke Israel?

Let's say Iran's government, who has vowed to end Israel's existence, acquires hundreds of nuclear weapons in 15-20 years from now and decides to nuke Israel, knowing that they probably will not be nuked back because it could end all human existence if Russia becomes involved. How do you think the world should react to this? This makes it an amazingly complicated situation.

What if the nuclear weapon that the Muslim country uses is Soviet made, that was lost after the Soviet Union collapsed. Should the Israelis nuke Russia because of this? And wouldn't that cause a nuclear war, destroying all of humanity? This again, makes the situation so much more complicated.

In all honesty, do you think that the Western Powers would use nuclear weapons if a nuclear weapon was used against Israel, and what do you think Israel's response would be to the nuke?

In all actuality, the nuked Israel might not have time to deliver its own nuclear weapons because of the EMP blasts (you might want to research this more) the nukes create shutting down everything electronic including other nuclear weapons underground. Say it is delivered in a suicide bombing or a car bombing in the matter of an instance. What happens then?

If Israel were nuked by Muslims (and so far Pakistan is the only Muslim nation with the capacity and they are more interested in nuking India), the target would be Tel Aviv not Jerusalem.

Unless, it was Saudi Arabia that did the nuking, Israel would not attack Mecca and Medina. While Israel's sense of proportionate response is not always up to the standards that we would like, they understand about attacking your enemy not non-belligerents.

Currently, any strike with nuclear weapons is most likely to come from Iran (but that is at least a decade away). As such, the prime target would be Tehran.

No, they would just nuke whoever started it. Adding those two cities would almost certainly get Pakistan to retaliate for the retaliation. Or Saudi Arabia may have managed to buy a few complete bombs (From Pakistan, China or Ex-USSR) to have a deterrent. Not to mention the best air defense and anti-missile technology they can buy from the US, to shoot down any attackers. So many people suggesting nuking Mecca & Medina, why not be prepared to defend them?
