Louis XIV (September 5, 1638 – September 1, 1715) was King of France and Navarre form 1643-1715. He was called The Sun King and was a true absolute monarch. He made France a great power, but at the expense of his people. The wealth of France increased, but his people became more impoverished. He spent lavishly with the wealth that was generated. His great achievement was the Palace of Versailles.

The Sun King or Louis the Great. Born in 1638 and ascended the French throne in 1643 at about 5 years old and ruled until 1715. He developed the term Absolute Monarch. Built Versailles to help consolidate his power.

he was king of France. AKA the sun king. Spent a whole lot of money in order to impress and keep his nobles in line. Fought too many wars.
