I think Sean is best for a male. Shawn seems to be a popular spelling for the female version of this name, as far as I have come across-mos females named this spell it Shawn, anyway.

Well, my favorite spelling is Shaun, but I like Shawn more than Sean. I think Sean is the Irish spelling.

Definitely Sean. I read a romance novel where the hero was named Sean, and I have preferred that spelling ever since. (It was a very good book!) Plus, I went to school with a Shawn, and he was a bully, so I kinda dislike that spelling for that reason.
