I support our troops, yet I wonder how they must feel when they leave our wonderful land of plenty to enter the gate of hell.

Ahhhhhhhh It warms my very heart to read your answers. May God bless all of you that have already served our great nation, and those of you that would be willing to go today.
I have thought about enlisting myself. Although my mom is ill and would have a fit if I did. I feel this conflict as they call it is much more than politics, it is a clash of faith as well.
Your answers make me Proud to be an American.

HELL YES!
I've re-upped once and volunteered to go to additional schools to prepare myself. Not only is it about fighting for our country, but I also do it for the person next to me. Iraq sucks and I'm about to go back for a 3rd tour, but I welcome it because it's my job. I signed up for this $hit and I have no intention of doing a half-a$$ job. I leave our wonderful land to help others find the same freedom you have. Having to overcome the fear of Iraq and everywhere else is simply a byproduct of the job.
BTW...know what scares me? The 3 nut-jobs that are the front-runners for the DNC. I have nothing against moderate dems, but those wacko's scare the $hit out of me. I'm not dumb and I know the current of political thinking in our country. If Clinton, osama or edwards ere elected, we will soon be fighting the MUSLIM terrorists in our streets. With that being said, go ahead and elect them...i'll fight the bastards anywhere...

Went over for the first gulf war. Considered too old now but if a old man like me could get one of those young people home by taking their place. You bet I would. Not that I agree with the cause but I am sick of Young people dieing.
Wolf" You never meet a liberal? Well My Grandfather and Father served in World War I and II, My Dad staying in for Korea. My Brother-in-law (a career man) has been to Gulf One, Panama, Kosovo and Iraq, I was in the gulf, my sister is on her second tour of Iraq. We are all Liberals, registered Democrats and Damn Proud to be Americans.
I am so tried of this crap that Liberals do not serve and no not love this country.

I'm medically ineligible for service, so the point is moot. But, if able, I could have seen myself serving in Afghanistan five or six years ago, when I believed in what we were doing. I was as eager as anyone to kill bin Laden and shut down the Taliban. I do not feel the same way about Iraq.

Damn right I would . I'M a patriot. I served Aboard the USS VALCOUR AVP55 and proud of my time served.I joined the military and didn't wait for the draft.
Every one of my comrades-in-arms, needs our backing. Not the BS the the Vets of Vietnam received from the press and people like "Hanoi Jane " Fonda gave.

They volunteered, they are there because they are being forced to do so. If they joined the Military for education and other benefits guess what? I would think they are proud to serve their country, no matter where. If I were a younger man I would have no problem serving and if asked even now I would go.

Nope, but I sure would go to Pakistan to drag Osama out, and kill the root of the problem to begin with.
But, I guess anyone who would rather terrorists in pak get their hands on some nukes, would disagree.

Absolutely. I served 10 years in some pretty hostile theaters (Iraq not one of them) and I would serve again in Iraq if my great country asked me to.
Won’t fight for oil planksheer?
Consider this, until we begin using alternate energy sources in earnest or we kick the individuals aside who are blocking our drilling for oil here in America and the Gulf kiss everything you know goodbye without oil.
Guess you want everyone else to fight for your way of life eh?
That’s ok, we’ve done it for years and we will continue to.

Well that a risk they took when they signed up, they are not freaked out about it and our wonderful land of plenty is only good if you have money and plenty of it. I'm approaching midlife and I dam sure would go if needed Be honest would you,
